ps3 region free?

Hi
Going to new york sunday,just wondering if I buy games over there for my ps3 will they work on my ps3 without any problems?

Yup, all the Blu-ray Disc games are region free.

The only area you'll come unstuck is if you try to buy DLC from the PlayStation store as that sometimes will require a specific SKU.
 
Didn't I read somewhere about it connecting to different online services ages ago, like multiplayer and such? Might be wrong.. Or might of been with a 'foreign' console..
 
All games are not region coded, however DLC is. If you want to buy DLC for the US games you will need a US PSN account. You can still play the game complete with DLC from your UK account after but the DLC must be bought on the US account.

Create a new user on the PS3, go over to the Account Management tab on the XMB and register a new PSN account. You will need a separate e-mail address for the new account. Choose the country (United States) during the registration process and enter your details. If you are asked to register an address complete with Zip Code, go online and look up Walmart and use their address :)

Pre-paid $ cards to add money to your US PSN account.

Seriously, man, it's not worth the hassle. If you're going to buy any games from the States, get ones that are single-player with no DLC. :D

The Xbox 360 itself is region free for game discs only. The publishers are the ones that either implement region controls or not (there are lists of games that are region free online). As for normal DVD video, it is region locked.
 
Don't bother buying games in the US. The exchange rate is horrible now so it's not worth it anymore.

$60 = £38 or so, you can get games cheaper online in the UK.

Edit: PSP is definitely region free by the way, not sure about films but games are. Pick up Persona 3: Portable while you are over there. ;) (not out in Europe for a long time)
