ps3 region free

as title suggests. ive heard the ps3 is region free for games and films. is this true?? im off to usa later this year and will pick one up if as they are both expensive and inferior here

Importing one isn't a good idea, Sony won't give you warranty.

All games are region free, however not all movies are.
There are lists around that tell you which movies are and which aren't. I'd say around 70% of movies currently are.

Actually, saying the euro one is inferior is poss. inaccurate. Mate of mine works for sony and he recons the 'emotion engine free' PS3s although cheaper to produce will support more backwards compatibility in the end than the HW alone can do, something to do with bus noise making the inclusion of the EE a drawback rather than an advantage.
