PS3 -Regions

My mate has just bought a Ps3 and took it to Indie (he is working there for 6months)

He bought some DVDs out there (Region 5) and they wont play in the console, is there any way around this?

I told him he should have got an Xbox, are these region free?

neither are region free with dvd's. why did you say he should have got an xbox if you dont know whether it would suit his needs or not lol

I don't think any consoles are region free for dvds, though i may be wrong

I assume there is no firmware or suchlike to fix this?

You can get your xbox region free but it would invole modding it and i don't think we can talk about it round here

just do a search and you should find what you need
