I've seen a thread somewhere about an expected price drop of the 360 in October, with Sony now saying the PS3 will be released in November do you think there will definately be a drop in the 360 price??

I would certainly say so. If the PS3 has the expect release price of £350-£400, then what better way for MS to pull in more Xbox customers than to reduce the 360 price to around £200 or so. It makes perfect business sense in my eyes.

THERE WILL BE NO PRICE DROP

THERE WILL BE A COST DROP

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE

As far as I can tell, the 360 will remain the same price and as Peter Moore said as soon as the ps3 price was revealed, the 360 had no need for a price drop.

Prove me wrong tho :)

Of course MS are not going to anounce a Price drop now. But I bet there will be either a £50 drop on both versions of the 360, or there will be a software bundle that costs the same as a 360 alone.

MS will do what they can to pull the punters away from the PS3.

Actually thinking about it they will also have to adjust their price when the Wii comes out as that will be cheaper than the 360. So Sony will be hit by M$ knocking their price down twice in a short period of time.

I dont think there will be as I think there is a big enough price difference anyway for Ms to think its un-necessary (after taking into account the £20 drop already found in some places)

I think Sony have badly misjudged the market with their PS3 pricing. MS could really take them to the cleaners if they can pitch the 360 at the right price point. £199.99 makes it a realistic bday/xmas present for a lot of people.

by the time both the WII and the ps3 are out i expect the CORE package to be knocking around £170

with the premimium being about £220

this is of course assuming MS NEED to drop the price, they might be doing just fine with sales against the ps3.

they also have spoken of a cost drop, this means they are producing them for less, not lowering the consumer price, but as said above, thers no doubt they will

I can see microsoft dropping the price of the 360 even if it costs them money for the simple fact that if they drop the premium to say 210 or 220 they could go crazy marketing it around the ps3 launch date as being half the price of the ps3 assuming the premium ps3 retails for around 420.

That big a price difference could make a lot of difference as to which console people buy, particularly parents who likely only buy one console for their kids, in which case a saving of 200 odd pounds is a pretty loud argument for the 360 over the ps3.

Problem is to some people, cost = how good it is.

£400 console with a lot of marketing hype around it vs one that's been out over a year at half the price? They're going to be thinking why is this console so cheap? It must be rubbish! and walk out with a PS3.

The PS3 is £424.99 and is due for release on the 17th of November. Don't know if this has been posted..

Not sure about the 360 though.

It's not as bad as the 3do ($700 over ten years ago) so they probably will sell a fair few to be honest. If people percieve it to be better than the 360 then they won't have any problems.
