ps3 repair time

my damaged ps3 (overheating apparently) is getting collected on wednesday for repair, how long do they usually take to get back?

i will be buying a new hard disk to use in it, so if it goes bust again i can swap them back and not loose all my damn stuff

which ps3 do you have? i believe if you have normal non-backwards compatible 40/80gb ps3 then its a straight swop at the door. if you got a BC 60gb, then im not sure

The HDD wont work like that! You will need to keep a backup on a external HDD. I got my ps3 swapped at the door (60gb) and was told no need to back up my saves etc.. But as soon as you put your hdd into the ps3 it will ask to format it even if its in ps3 format.

its a 40gb, less than a year old, just dont have the box and reciept.

a swap at the door would be most excellent

zg, so hypothetically if i tryed to swap a working drive with all my stuff on it from a bricked console to a new one, it wouldnt let me?

Mine taken over a month, was a year old 40GB and they said the serial matched a 60GB so I got a shiney 60GB replacement with ps2 backwards compat and the funky card slot. was worth the wait
