PS3 RIP :( Can Anyone Help???

My PS3 console decided to die on me Saturday, I was waiting for Vidzone to load up and it beeped acouple of times and switched off. I tried turning it back on but it beeps acouple of times, red light flashes to green for a sec or 2 then back to red and flashes. I've tried leaving it but obviously something major has happened to it :mad:

Its out of warranty by 8 months so rung Sony ans they want £140 to exhange it for a refurb. Bit annoyed with a £300 console not lasting even 2 years and then having to pay hnearly the price of a new console to get a refurb.

Has anyone ever had a similar issue with their PS3 and have any idea whats wrong with it??? Do I have any other alternatives??? Bit gutted I have about £100+ of singstar tracks on the hdd too :mad:

In the end I got my money back! is it 8 months past the 12 month warranty? Sony usually offer 18 month on their warranties.

Try taking your HDD out and booting it up mate, also if you have a game stuck in the drive hold the Eject button for 10 seconds to force the PS3 to eject it.

Managed to get the blu ray out earlier, will try the HDD tonight and see if it helps. From doing some googling might be the psu given up on mine

Don't really want to spend £140 on a refurb when I can get a new one for £60 more.

The only problem I have is my singstar downloads, can I redownload them??

Singstar downloads are a pain in the ass to get transferred to another console, when my first ps3 died it took months for them to transfer the license to my new console

I've tried the original HDD and it does exactly the same :-(
