I've owned a PS3 for a couple of days and got GTA IV this morning. When I put the game disc in it wants to install a patch to 1.04. If I press X to let it apply the patch, I get taken to a "Please Wait" screen before the system beeps three times and restarts.
If I press Circle to ignore the patch then the game hangs on the initial copyright screen.
Unfortunately I've been rushed off my feet lately so haven't been able to pick up any other titles so I'll pop into town tomorrow for a browse to try and rule out either the game or system. However, from a quick search it seems like this isn't a problem unique to me.
Any demos downloaded from the PlayStation Store run perfectly, DVDs and CDs work fine, and the GTA disc is detected quickly whenever it is put in the drive (a Sony tech thought I could have a dead Blu-Ray drive).
Does anyone know what could be causing this, and if it's fixable?
