PS3 Slim not reading discs

brought a PS3 slim 2 weeks ago, but I have only just (today) opened it! because I was still using my original 60gb model, which I sold yesterday! and the brand new slim wont read any disc's! priceless............................

should I take it back to the shop or call Sony?
gutted as I was gonna play heavy rain :mad:
 
My brother has had loads of trouble with the PS3 and the PS2 one. They both didn't read discs and game's crashed all the time :/ get a 'normal' one!

Take it back to the shop to be honest. No point in faffing around testing stuff, especially as you haven't even got any content onto the PS3 yet. Sounds like the blu-ray laser may be dead. Even if it does read CDs/DVDs (which use the other laser) still useless to you.

mine started doing this the other week and gradually got worse to the point it didnt read and every time i put a disc in it made a clunking sound like a 5cd drawer :(
took it back to the shop with receipt and they swapped it for a new one and this one is quieter and loads fine just a pain to download all psn titles again ;)
