Hi people,
Finally went and got a ps3- its a lovely machine and im very impressed :)
however, the downloading of demo's etc is incredibly slow!! even the latest system update took forever. im using a linksys wag54gs via ethernet so i'm wonderingif theres a setting i've missed or something? also i cancelled a demo and then re-started it...i take it there's no resume download feature on the ps3? the manual is rather limited.
any help from you ps3 guru's much appreciated.
cheers,
steve.

who is your ISP, people seem to think Virgin is really slow for some reason.

im with sky and its really really quick, im on the same wireless router as you aswell

i'm with tiscali.....not the best isp by some people's opinions but i've never had any bother with them.

ok, thanks for the replies..i'll grin and bear it for now :)
will pause the download in future aswell!

Downloads pause when watching a film or playing a retail game I believe if you weren't already aware?

I'm sure PSN games don't affect the download tho..

I am with VM and the PSN is usually unbelievably slow but sometimes can be stupidly fast, took me 1 hour to download the motorstorm 2 demo, on xbox live (same connection, same day) it only took 5 mins to get the mirrors edge demo,

*edit* I don't know how people reach their limits on VM, I have never been limited, my pc which is connected to the same network hits 2.4MB/s every time

Netgear wireless router here, I'm in Ireland and downloading on my PS3 has always been insanely slow too.

I've searched for a solution, but had no luck. My PC and 360 both work fine speed wise.

If there's a demo I want I tend to just use my 360.

You should try AOL. Worst internet ever. It's either really slow or not working. Virgin is much better.. Not tried going online with my PS3 yet. I haven't set up my PS3 because it's not worth using it if I havn't got a HDTV to play it on. Hopefully I'll buy a decent TV buy the time I move into my new place.
