ps3 software update

Hi, so i've just bought a PS3, and was wonderin if its possible to update its software without going online, (with a flash drive maybe?). If so could someone point me in the right direction.

Just a note to the op, not heard of a problem but i don recomeend you using that one as its the US firmware, it may cause some compatability problems, use http://uk.playstation.com/help-support/ps3/guides/detail/item60697/Download-now/

My first problem...

I d.loaded the update and some themes aswell ,copied them to a flash drive, put the drive into the ps3 and it can't find any files on the drive (it does recognise the drive tho) does the drive need to be formated i a certain way, NTFS, FAT etc? Would it work if i burned them to CD?

You haev to put the uupdate in a specific folder on your flash drive to I think, at least you had to when I done it last.

Put it in a filing system like so:

C:/PS3/UPDATE/<insert files here>
