Any ideas why I cant get to watch pre-recorded programs using STV player ?.

The BBCi player works fine, although the BBC player is part of the PS3 program list on the PS3 menu ?.

The wireless connection is working fine with a laptop and browsing using PS3.

Ideas welcome.

The Flash Player on PS3 is very specific to the PS3. I believe it is a custom version of Flash Player 8. Works for Youtube and BBC content, as they have versions of video that are backwardsly compatible (and maybe in Youtube's case they keep multiple versions of videos on their servers).

I am guessing 4OD & ITV/STV players need Flash 9 or 10, which is why they don't work.

I might be wrong with version numbers, but it is definitely something to do with versions.

I've only just tried this STV player.

I assumed it would maybe use REAL player as opposed to FLASH player.

Can I upgrade the FLASH version on the PS3 ?

Can't be updated (as TheVoice said), I doubt many sites use Real Player streaming/codecs anymore :)

rp is right, I believe. It's using a more recent version of Flash that the PS3 browser doesn't yet know about. The third party who make the core functionality for the PS3 browser (I forget their name) have very new versions as they sell to all kinds of manufacturers but Sony haven't yet updated the PS3 with the latest versions. So it will probably work in time.
