Is there any way of using my PS3 control for my PC as I am more used to it than my 360 control.

I have seen cheap PC controls that are the same shape-ish but are not the same really.

If I could mod or use something to make a PS3 control work on PC I can as I have 2...

Remember while you dont have a bluetooth adapter, you can use a USB cable with Motionjoy.

Been using my PS3 controller this way on PC for years.

Stumbled upon this magical little gadget a few months ago and its amazing. It basically allows most of the popular input devices to be used on the PC and both consoles. Its not exactly cheap but if you use multiple systems like me and prefer different control methods its a life saver.

It also has inbuilt buttom mapping set to profiles, so you can switch mapping mid game ie Ps3 controller often uses R1 L1 to fire, while Xbox 360 uses RT LT (R2 L2 equivalent). Using this you can get around games which support no remapping. I have PS button + Select mapped to cycle profiles.

The website explains it better, but it comes in two variants. The basic one and the Xtreme which supports MODs. I brought the Cronus Device regular from the rainforest named book store.

I've used motion joy for years and became increasingly frustrated with it. Its pretty unstable, needs to be online (unless moded), has an awful interface and in the past given me blue screens. Not to mention support for it has ground to a halt. I also have a hat full of usb bluetooth dongles that I brought as part of the lottery to get wireless supported (until the official one could be brought).

Beauty of the Cronus Device is it doesn't even need the official wireless xbox 360 reciever to work. All you need is to install the 360 for windows drivers, and it syncs up wireless, as a 360 pad. It also remembers the ps3 pad, so next time I turn the PC on all I do is hit the PS button and its synced again.

Was going to make a post about it when I first tested it, but never got round to it. For me its been amazing. These threads always seem to pop up so hope it benefits people wanting to game with a PS3 pad.

That sounds great, Rhys.

I've never heard of it before. Definitely something I'll look into.

The Rainforest.

Search bluetooth dongle. £1.65, job's a good un.

Except it's not, because half of the bluetooth adapters don't work with a PS3 controller. There's a certain feature they need to have to work, can't remember what it is though, will require some googling.

Personally I much prefer using a wireless 360 pad with my PC. So much easier and the controller is (arguably) better :p

I want to use my wireless keyboard and mouse with my 360 and ps3. And I have been torn between this and the Xim Edge. Which do you recommend?

Not sure about 360 but I was able to use my wireless usb keyboard with my ps3, I simply plugged the keyboards usb adapter into one of the ps3's usb ports and it worked instantly.

Not sure why you would want to tbh. Sure you would have much better control but you would also have a ridiculous advantage over other players that it would be almost like cheating.

Not personally used the Xim Edge, but it seems to do a fairly similar thing, probably with more focus on getting mouse & keyboard support or mouse & move on consoles. Xim were one of the first people to produce cross platform adapters.

The Cronus Device is just a small usb stick that comes with a micro bluetooth adapter to plug in the end. It has two pieces of software CronusCFG, for buttom remaping and Bullseye for specifically mapping m&k to various controllers. These are loaded as profiles while the Cronus is plugged in your PC, then different ones are activated on the fly when your on other devices. All gamepads work out of the box default ie Ps3 and Xbox have 1:1 mapping so people may not need touch the software. I think you will need to setup your own preferences, if the m&k settings are different to what you want.

I'm not 100% sure also if Xim will let you play Ps3 pads/Move/Wii etc on PC. With the Cronus its plug and play. Basically any controller to any system is, with exception to controllers on 360 as you need a wired pad to steal its authentication from first then plug in the bluetooth dongle (this is the same with Xim devices as Microsoft seem to make things more difficult, while others just use bluetooth). For its price I think its a steal and worth trying.

Not interested in online, so it's not cheating, i just want to play and enjoy games.
