PS3 super slim HDD swap

Hey, Just after some advice on swapping out the HDD in the new super slim PS3.

Do you guys know if you need to load PS firmware onto the drive before installing it into the PS3 or can you simply swap the drives? I have read some contradicting answers on the net so if anyone who has already done this could advise it would be a big help.

I am looking to put a 1tb hdd in the system.

You don't need the software update file on the drive itself, you'd need it on a USB flash drive. You may find you don't need it at all as it varies from system to system (and software version) but it can be useful to have on-hand in case. You can download it from the PlayStation website.

i think the super slim has 4gb built in so you should be ok without.

are you backing up your old drive first? you'll need a 3rd drive to do this.
