Ps3 - Switching between SD & HD help

Have been playing gta4 on my ps3 on a normal 21 crt tv in my room until get a new tv but tried it out on my parents 32 ich lcd and used a hdmi cable to try out the console in HD. I reset the console and changed the settings to 720p and 1080i but when i tried to use it on my old tv again it wont show a picture and wont repond to resetting the console to get it to defaults again. Do i need to just connect it back to the lcd and change the settings back manually when i get a picture or is there another way?

Turn your PS3 on with either the power button held down or the guide button on the controller and it should reset. Can't remember which button.

Just plug it in normal and just hold down the power power until it beeps again.
