PS3 - System Update problem

Got my PS3 today, set it up and checked version which is 1.92 out of the box.

Downloaded 2.10 to my USB stick (in PS3/UPDATE folders) but the PS3 won't recognise when updating through 'Update via Storage Media', comes up 'No applicable update data was found'.

What am I doing wrong? Any help gratefully received.

Would be if a) I had wireless or b) PS3 was close enough to PC to connect via cable (other end of house). Stuck until I go wireless!

Is it all in upper case?
 
The filename is PS3UPDAT.PUP right?
And your PS3 folder is in the root of the memory stick or whatever device it is.
 
File is USB DISK (F)/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP all capitals and mem stick id formatted to FAT32.

Both USB ports recognise and work for the controller but neither seems to recognise the stick.
