Then buy a TMX elmo :D

Bought one for my son, it's quite funny :) Got it two weeks ago.

As for the 360's I got hold of two extra 360's after launch and sold them both on ebay for a nice profit, a week later our car broke down in a big way and my little profit went on repairing the car :(

See thats the sort of Karma I am worried about. I bet in a way you were glad you did go to the effort of selling those consoles.

Aye, it helped pay for the car :p

I hadn't pre-ordered the extra two, I actually went out and found them and then sold them on.

So they were available, people just weren't looking hard enough ;)

Anyone is willing to bid on it even though the reliability of PS3 is unknown? Not worth the hassle IMO. The same can be said for xbox 360.

Well you do get a manufacturers warranty, although it might be a bit tricky if its an imported one.

If I was to buy and sell on ebay I would be including the recipt. It seems the decent thing to do considering the amount these people would pay.

It's nice to see so many will chuck morals out the window to make a bit of quick cash.

I feel the same way, but I could do with the cash and it is easy money. So I am at least thinking about doing it I will base my desision on several factors closer to the time. But as things stand I may be joining the dark side.

It is almost impossible to get imported console repaired unless you have any relations in US to do it for you plus the cost of postage etc.

Add to that, if you're seller for imported consoles, you will have to deal with your buyers if their PS3s broke down or not working as they should be. In the end, it's not worth all the hassles.

Personally I don't think it's that bad at all, it's not as if we're buying up all the food and keeping it from starving children. The PS3, like the 360 and Wii, is luxury, and therefore nobody needs one, nomatter how much they may want one. If they've not pre-ordered the console in time, then it's their own fault. It's also their own fault for not waiting and then paying twice the price on ebay for one. I know some kids will be disappointed, and adults too, but I could do with some easy money personally :p (presuming the PS3 is going to sell out in the UK, if it's clear it's not, then I'll cancel my preorder).

Well said DaveyD.
There are people who make a living off of pre-ordering things like limited edition cars. They stick their name down as soon as they can for things like the Merc SLR or a Zonda, then sell their early place on a waiting list to rich punters who have more money than sense.

What does it actually have to do with morals? It would only be morally a wrong thing if you bought it and smashed it up in front of young Billy who didnt get one for his Chrimbo present...but still sounds fun none the less.
Is every retailer on the planet also morally wrong then? Damn you OcUK how dare you make profits by buying up all the stock of AGP graphics cards and then selling them (which they did actually IIRC) :p

You can buy your own american shipping address, would that help. I do agree only a company should attempt to profiteer on this particular venture, too risky imo

Just aswell then ;)

Thing is though, most of these will be private sellers on ebay, so your pays your money you takes your chance.
its worth the hassle if you have the cash, my conly concenr IF i manage to get one and it manages to break, sending it back and forward between the states will kill on Customs charges alone, would be cheaper to buy a new one and immorally sell the broken one as 'condition not check for some weeks' on ebay lol

If you want a quick bit of easy cash - go into cosmetics. The raw materials & chemicals that go into them barely cost more than a few pounds. Yet they sell for over £25 ;)

Capitalist market. If you don't like people selling things for a massive markup - go to Cuba. Or better yet, just don't buy it.
