Can someone with a PS3 do me a favour? Can you please check the colour of the original theme, as when I got my PS3 Slim 250gb, it was a brownish, now it seems to be grey/silver?

Even after a restore it still seems to be that colour, so I'm guessing they changed it in the 3.15 firmware?

Yeah with the default PS3 theme, the colours change depending on a certain day per month, and it gets darker or brighter during the hours of a day as well. Introduced since firmware 3.00 with the Slim I think.

Just the set the colour to what ever you what it to be and it will stay like that.

The PS3 has done this since it was released. You can choose what colour you would like it to stay permanently however in the settings menu.

Hahaha, I had no idea!
That's kinda cool. Might go back to default theme now ;)

And to think I had the default one for 6 months without noticing the color change..

It's supposed to reflect the seasons and the time of day so in summer the background will be yellow from 3am to 10pm and fade to black at other times. In December, it will be a snowy white/grey from 8am to 4pm and fade to black from 4pm to 8am. In theory.

I bought a 250GB Slim the other day and when I unboxed it and plugged it in the background was a grey colour, which I changed to yellow. It doesn't seem to change based on what time it is for me. But I don't spend that much time using the XMB so maybe that has something to do with it.

It only changes colour if you leave it on the default original setting. If you set a colour manually, it always stays the same regardless of time/date.
