Hi all,

I got a Component to VGA cable but the PS3 is RCA and I just noticed that the cable advert on a well known auction site says

"(*) it important to note that this cable doesn't support a computer monitor video port, or Y , Cr, Cb Video. Your video source should provide a YpbPr Component Video Signal from the HD 15 video ports to use this cable other wise it will not work."

This is another language to me. So can I hook up my PS3 to my monitor using this cable. Also, is there a way to connect the PS3 to my speakers which are just normal headphone type jacks.

Component to VGA cables wont work to a PC monitor unless they have some fancy box to convert it to the right resolution.

Generally, I believe, component to VGA cables are designed for HDTVs that do not have a direct component connection on them, but have the component connection built in to the VGA port on it, so the VGA port acts as both a component port and a VGA port. This is how my HDTV is set up for my 360, as the TV doesn't have normal component connections.

If you have a DVI connection on your monitor, you should be able to connect it to that using a HDMI => DVI connector, as long as your monitor is HDCP enabled I believe.

Yep, if your monitor is not HDCP compliant look at getting the HD Fury cable.
