Samsung SM2233BW Cream 22" Widescreen

I'm using a HDMI to DVI connector, when i'm in the middle of playing this message flashes up.

'Not optimum mode, recommended mode 1680x1040'

And it just goes blank.

Ideas?

Connected the PS3 to my mates monitor which is a Samsung SyncMaster 226BW and the PS3 works fine no issues.

I've heard something about HDCP and I know my monitor doesn't have this, could this be the issue?

I've tried resetting the PS3 and different resolutions none of them work, aswell as 576p and still the same problem.

**Bare in mind I AM getting an image for a small period of time so surely it's supported?

God knows tbh, but basically without HDCP getting a (constant) picture through HDMI/DVI on the PS3 is impossible without a HDFury adapter. Could try an unofficial VGA cable possibly? Though having no experience with them i can't comment on how good they are.

[EDIT] On the split second picture issue, i'm not an expert but when you connect to something that requires HDCP, the HDCP device sends something called a 'handshake' that must be replied to before the picture will display. Maybe the image data is being sent for a split second then the handshake times out and it disables the output.

Cheers for your help bud.
