Hello,

I have a Samsung TFT screen ATM, and has built in speakers, and HDMI, so when connecting the PS3, i can get sound as well as game video. My monitor also has an Headphone socket.

However, i was thinking of upgrading my monitot to a 30" one (not sure which), but the ones i've seen (Samsung 305T/Dell3008) don't do audio i don't think. So if i connected the PS3, what would be the best way round of getting Audio to work? (also use it a lot for Blue ray as well).

TIA:)

I have the same situation (TV with no speakers).

I get audio through an amp and seperate speakers.

From the PS3 I run an optical cable to my amp to feed the speakers. :)

Thanks. Forgetting about the optical option, will go figure (thinking of connecting it to my hi-fi, which has phono ins) I will have my monitor connected to pc BTW. Cheers

Tv with no speakers?

:)

EDIT: Just had a look at my hi-fi and does have optical, but only "OUT"..... oh well, but i do have a sound card with out and in, but the in is used by my Synthesizer(s).

You can use the crappy composite lead you get with the PS3 (yellow, red and white) to get your audio out to a suitable device, anything that accepts L+R phono connectors or 3.5mm jack with an adaptor, you just have to change the audio output in the XMB.

Not sure if that helps?

Yes, you just need to connect red and white to something, then set the audio options in the PS3 to not use HDMI audio (I think).

i got a sound card with optical in / out ports, which one would i need to plug it into ? i/o ?? and do i have to change any settings on the computer for the soundcard ?

You plug the optical from the out (PS3) to IN (Sound card). Then you set up your Hz on your card (I have an E-MU 0404, and It is set to **48khz**

Go to the PS3, settings>Sounds>settings>Audio output settings>Digital out>Linear 44 (PCM 2Ch) Linear 48 (PCM 2 ch)

**Save this**. Then Reboot the PLAYSTATION. (i was a good hour trying to get it to "sync" but wouldn't work, but after a PS3 turn off/on, it detected fine.

CAN ANYONE Help me on this one prob though, Do i have to keep taking out the DVI out of the monitor?, as when i plug the ps3 in via HDMI, nothing happens until i pull the DVI out from GFX card to monitor. I have a Geforce GTX8800, and can't seem to figure this out - maybe the IS a way:)

Wouldn't you have to select the source manually on the monitor if you had more than 1 input? It's only working because you are removing your PC, and making the PS3 the only active signal?
