Hi guys,

I could do with some advice here as im well and truely confused. All ive done since this started happeneing was set up remote play as Ive just picked up a PSP.

Basically, whenever I turn my PS3 off it turns itself into an Access Point with a WEP password (which i havent set nor know the password to), but its only when I turn the console off, as soon as I turn the console on the network disappears.

Anypne got any ideas whats going on? Its really doing my head in now as my PS3 wont shut down fully, its as if it goes into a low power state just to enable the wireless network.

Cheers for any advice,

Paul

If you have the option to enable remote play and awake then it will only go into a low power mode. Disable that and your PS3 will turn off.

The access point is listening for your PSP. It does it due to Remote Play. It never shuts off whilst that feature is enabled.

turning that off really saves your PS3 I think I can hear the fan whirring away when it's in that mode.

I actually switch my PS3 off when not in use using the switch at the back (which should really be at the front :( )

Same with my sammy TV it has a standby mode but not an off mode.

:;(

I don't know why but I found this problem really amusing :p

Standy mode barely uses any power, so you don't really have to use the switch.

except for the fact that it uses some power then yeah,
wait, you dont turn it off overnight? do you have any idea what sort of a fire risk that is

yeah it wouldnt have been too hard to place the switch on the underside of the power on/off button

I don't see how it's any more a fire risk than a microwave, toaster, TV, Sky+ box, PC etc etc all of which people leave plugged in all the time. Standby on the PS3 is useful at least in that it allows you to turn it on with the controller. The power usage is negligible really (although in fairness, it should use even less than it does).

yeah i can never be arsed to bend down to flick the switch at the back so i just turn off with the controller. ima super lazy
