PS3 User Icon/Avatar question

Hello.

I loaded up a custom PNG onto my PS3 so that I didn't have to use one of those stupid faces as my user icon any more, and it changed fine and looks good. However, I can only see it when I scroll all the way to the left on the XMB.

If I am over to the right, where the friends list is, it shows my names amongst my friends (all 5 of them) but it still shows one of the standard PS3 faces.

Does anyone know how I can change this?

Some of my friends have custom icons so I am sure I am just missing something.

Your local account avatar, and PSN account avatar are totally separate aren't they?

I know how to customise your local one, but not seen how to change the PSN image.

Oh really? That sucks. Why are such simple things not possible on a PS3?

Not saying you cant do it, just that I don't know how to change the PSN one.

Thanks for yoru post though. I had Google'd so much stuff and not had any luck, when you mention PSN icon (I had been searching PS3 icon) I searched for that and got this link straight away

Own one is definitely not usable. I don't mind horrendously, but they never add any new icons and you can't buy any off PSN like XBL (yes I would pay for a Heroes related icon!!).

They should do what XBL do and let you use your own with a PS Eye and let your friends list only see it. (I am sure this is how XBL does it to get round the problem of rude icons being shown to strangers etc).

Go to your user Avatar (leftmost XMB column), highlight one you want to change, press Triangle, pick "Information", press X to "Edit" and it lets you pick a picture form a preset list or from your HDD. No matter what the size of the picture it resizes it.
