PS3 VGA

Need to connect ps3 to my projector which only has vga sockets is this possible and what will i need?

There is no official VGA cable for the PS3 but i'm sure i seen some way of using a VGA cable(it may of been fake though)

Not really. Non native, good quality, digital to analogue conversion requires very expensive equipment.

so how can u use a convertor to turn dvi>vga from a pc graphics card to a monitor, but not hdmi>dvi>vga

im sure somebosy on these forums successfully used a ps2 vga lead.....

the ps3 expects a hdcp compatible display to be connected to the hdmi port. vga and dvi arent capable of supporting it.

Graphics cards offer DVI-I (both analogue and digital signals) over their DVI ports. HDMI would be equivalent to DVI-D (digital only)

it basically strips any protection from hdmi (hdcp) and shoves the clean signal over vga.

This is also illegal in most places

Even completely ignoring HDCP, it still wouldn't be easy.

As said, DVI-I on a GPU can send analogue signals through a DVI connector to be used with a DVI->VGA adapter to get the right connector. It's basically a special DVI and VGA port in one.

I did!

On my old SD projector, I used the PS2 VGA adaptor to connect to the PS3, it worked perfectly, though other people have tried them on TVs, and had no luck at all.

There's no digital to analogue conversion, as the VGA adaptor doesn't connect to the HDMI port, it connects to the multiAV out, which is where you'd connect component/scart.

Sorry to drag this up but would a HDMI Male to VGA HD-15 Male Cable work with PS3 onto a VGA monitor?

gees louise, I never thought they cost that much. I was thinking like 30 quid. 250 dollars!?

That's £160

But at least you get built in wireless with the ps3!
