PS3 Viewing Trouble

Not sure where to post this, but I cant get any picture from HDMI or normal AV input on my PS3. My TV is a Samsung LE40R74BD that supports everything up to 1080p. Its a 2nd hand PS3 so I am thinking that it might be set to a resolution that my tv cant support. Is there any way to reset it? Its bugging me lots now!

I was under the impression that HDMI would automatically adjust the settings, but if the AV cable doesnt work either then Im fresh out of ideas.

Fixed - just had to hold down the power button for 5 seconds

Hold down the reset button for 5-10 seconds on the PS3, its in the manual somewhere also. Does a system reset or something like that.

I think if you hold down the power button for say 5 seconds. That usually fixes it

Hold the power button down until it double beeps, it will reset it and look for the appropriate output.

Chances are if you can't see it in HDMI or AV Scart then the user was using Component.
