I'd like to stream movies, music, etc from my PS3 to my LCD and have used the winamp player, but didnt really like the interface so I wanted to see what everybody or anybody else uses.

There was a thread about this here last week, and the week before :p
General consensus was that PS3 Media Server was easiest to set up and overall best.
TVersity works with Xbox 360 as well though, as well as with many other devices.

I've had good results with the transcoder included with the latest versions of Vuze. Up to trying it, I'd been using TVersity quite successfully, though it was a bit of a princess on occasion!

I used to use Windows Media Player, but PS3 Media Server is a million times easier to use and far less hassle to set-up and deal with. It works brilliantly.

Windows Media Player 11.

If you can't get that to work, you're doing it wrong tbh. It's by far and a way the easiest, most integrated solution.

It's OK if you use WMP as your default media player anyway, but if not it takes a hell of a lot of fiddling to get it to do what you want; there's so many different steps to go through before it'll actually share everything. PS3 Media Centre accomplished the same thing on its first run, didn't have to change any settings at all.

Besides, I lost my rag with WMP long ago after it persistently added all my music to its library and started adding album artwork etc. Awful bit of software.

There's a lot windows media player 11 doesn't support, and its the main reason I moved to TVersity. I find transcoding is the best way :p
