PS3 Wireless Download Speeds

Hi all

I did a quick search on the above but couldn't find anything so apologies if I missed anything!

I think I have got a wireless problem with the ps3. When browsing the store (any region store, not just the European one) or downloading demos/videos using the wireless connection, it is really slow. Over a couple of days, I tried downloading the Ninja Gaiden demo from the Japan store. For around 6 hours of downloading it got to around 49% before I got a message saying that the download was corrupt.

Over the weekend I tried plugging the ps3 straight into the router using an ethernet cable and the speed was superb. I got the demo in around 20 mins.

Has anyone else experienced this at all? I have got a Netgear DG834GT with the latest firmware and using 128bit wep. My 360, pc/laptop etc appear to be ok using the wireless connection, but have not fully tested them yet.

Any ideas at all on this one?

I've got an "up to 8mb" connection which I get around 3.5mb speeds from (most of the time anyway!).

The ps3's wireless signal strength hovers around the 45% mark.
 
Same problem. My wireless connection was showing up as around 45% and it was runnign like a dog. Kept failing when i went to download anything and took me around 4 hours to go through the username registration system (not kidding).

Solved it by putting a wireless access point in my room and I now get 100% strength and it works fine and fast.
 
At least I am not the only one with this problem! I thought my wireless network was on the blink.

The 360 seems to download at a decent rate and has around 2 bars signal strength. It took me around 35 mins to gett he c&c demo the other day.

Bar moving the access point closer, are there any other ways of speeding up the wireless connection so that is helps the download speed?
