Hi I have my PS3 wirelessly connected to my Netgear router.

When I watch some films on the PS3 wirelessly streamed from my computers hard drive I sometimes get stuttering.

Dont get it all the time. Why is this ?

anyone else get it and is there a solution?

Drives me insane trying to watch a film then it just stops for a few seconds.

What program are you using to stream? Are you streaming SD or HD?

Stuttering usually means that you're trying to stream beyond the capabilities of your network or that you're transcoding video and your CPU's struggling.

I am very likely to be flamed for this comment, but the wireless adapter in the PS3 sucks. Pure and simple. If you want smooth streaming, you're going to need to go wired.

You shall not be flamed! :D

But I will say this, I've never experienced problems with the wireless adapter in my PS3, streaming over wireless sucks, but with either my PS3 or PC wired it's smooth. I don't think it's the PS3's adapter, I just think full wireless and streaming don't go well together.

my PS3 suffers on vidzone so I've just bought some cable to try it wired. I'm just waiting for a cable splitter to arrive so that i can connect 360 and PS3 on the same cable while I'm behind the unit plugging stuff in.

Maybe it is my router. trouble is computer is upstairs with router and TV and PS3 downstairs.

If I put the router downstairs wired into my PS3 how would I get my computer upstairs to connect wirelessly to the router ?

Dont know anything about home plugs. Wireless adapter for PC is one way I guess.

Mind you. Even if the router is wired to the PS3 I will still be streaming from the computer upstairs so I will still have same problem wouldn't I ?

Home plugs are these clever devices you plug into your mains sockets. These then turn your homes electrical wiring into a makeshift network cable, plug one in near your router and one near your PS3 then connect them to the homeplugs using ethernet cables. They're not as good as a proper ethernet cable, but they're much better than wireless.

Something like the above.

I bought these ones and haven't looked back. Got one upstairs on the PS3 and one downstairs on the router.

You can get a 2 pack for £80 I think and your wireless woes will disappear.

Expensive at first but well worth it in my opinion.

My PS3 sucks streaming over wireless, wired it works perfectly, having the laptop connected to the same wireless network reveals that it isn't the network but the crappy PS3 wireless adapter

I found wireless was a bit dodgy for streaming too, but I think that was more because the signal to my PC wasn't that great. I've started just putting stuff onto my spare WD Passport drive instead and using that for all my media, saves having my PC churning through electricity when I'm not using it anyway.

My PS3 is connected wirelessly to my netgear router. PC is wired to router and I constantly stream HD format video without any hiccups.

This is all using Windows 7 and WMP media sharing. Works flawlessly!

In short....go wired if possible.
