PS3 Woes

Untill recently ive not had any issues with my PS3, but in the last 3-4 months ive started having connection issues with it.

Now, it connects to the internet properly, shows as NAT 2 and black ops (the main game i play) shows as "open" and all is fine. I have no issue connecting to 99% of my friends or game lobbies, however over the last few months we (me and one other friend) have suddenly been unable to connect to each other in black ops, and now all other games as well, and it is only between us, we both experience no other connection issues what so ever with anyone else.

I guess im looking for ideas on how to go about solving it, as im not entirely sure what to do or who to contact.

Ive ensured the ps3's are on static ip's outside the dhcp range,
ensured the ports are forwarded correctly and to the right ip's.
Tried with upnp on/off, tried with DMZ enabled and disabled and no joy.
Tried different routers at both houses, both setup by myself and then by manufacturers tech support, spoken to both ISP's (talktalk and AOL) in regards to work in the area, or if ports are being blocked to no avail, ive spoken with activision the publisers of black ops, who apart from telling me its a port issue, were of no real help, and sony was even less helpfull than that.

So guys and gals, help this networking newbie sole his connection woes please as im pulling what little hair i have out.

I've not played my PS3 in ages but PSN has been down for the last few months hasn't it? it should be working okay now though? maybe you need to update your PSN account password or something, even I got an email saying I should.

went down mid april to mid may i think, we started to get the connection issues just proir to the network dropping, maybe a week or so before, but after it came up we have been trying to solve this issue.
