Hi,

Just got one and I have a problem, when im going to system update and telling ti to update, its finding the version I need, and when i go to get it its just hanging one 0% until i get an error. It finds the version I need, and the internet browser works, it just wont download anything, anyone got any ideas?

cheers.

I had this issue, I ended up downloading off of the Sony website and loading it in via MemoryStick Pro.
Incidently, if you are having dropout issues with the networking, check to make sure the MTU size is correct. I was having problems with dropouts until I set this to match the setting on my router (1458 for BT ADSL).

Good luck.

Download the update from the Sony website and stick it on portable media if you're having problems. Definitely a good idea from Sony.
Doesn't give an excuse for it not to work though :(.

Ive put the update on a memory stick and tried to do it via media storage and its sayign no applicable update found :(

Sorted, it took a bit googling, but i never knew the update has to go into x:/PS3/UPDATE/<file>

Cheers for the advice guys, looks like panic over :)

Yeah, PS3s / PSPs are bloody annoying when it comes to having to put files in specific directories (more refering to music/video/pictures really) - I've never understood why you can just browse folder by folder

This is like a wall of barriers, much more of a pain to set up than the 360 was. When im going to sign up to PSN its running dog slow, i literally went and made my dinner before the initial screen had loaded, then the second screen loaded by the time id eaten my dinner, and then it timed out going to the third screen.

Is PSN running dog slow, or am i doing something wrong on my end?

It must be running slow. The PS3 is probably the easiest console I've had to set up for the internet. Was brilliant.

What's your connection quality %?

Which makes you want to think, Why cant the PS3 automaticly update its self.
Now, i fully understand that some users may not want the PS3 to do this.
But i would want it to...

I would save the hassle of finding the file and installing it. But then it would be handy until the day Sony messes up an update. :D

VIPeR.

I'm on 55% here, but I know mines a crap wireless signal.
I can't play CSS on the PC for example.
