PS3, worth it?

I can get a brand new PS3 with Motorstorm and HDMI cable, for £340.

Q1. Is this price too good to refuse?

Q2. Is the price of the PS3 looking to drop anytime soon?

Q3. Is a PS3 better then the xbox 360?

I've decided I'm going to leave it for now. I knew at release there weren't that many games that appealed to me, and it seems like there still isn't. I already have a 360 which gets played afew times a week, and hopefully a lot more from next week when I'll be exam free. I've still got afew untouched games aswel (Rainbow 6, Lost Planet, Splinter Cell) which I'm looking to complete, so I think I'll be busy for awhile with this yet. If I get a PS3 now, I think it's realistic to say that it wouldn't get played, or probably even touched judging by the games that are available for it.

I'm gonna save the money and put it towards a 46" Samsung LCD for the living room, and maybe afew months down the line go for a PS3.

Well I've just gone and bought one within the last hour. Brand new UK model, for £285

with no games though unfortunately.

Not bad for the price hey?

I figured its worth it just for the bluray player, can't complain for £285.

I have to admit though, I am impressed with the sheer size and weight of the thing, its a beast. Just abit shiny aswel.

Ok guys, I didn't even know but after checking the back of my samsung telly it does have HDMI even though for some reason I was sure it didn't.

Are all the HDMI cables the same quality or will there be a difference? Where's the best place to get one. Also, I need at least 1 game to test the damn thing

so from the lack of decent games, which is the 1 game you have to have. I liked GOW for the 360 so I'm thinking resistance since people use to compare them both but is there anything else? I just want 1 game thats it for now

Thanks Dutch Guy, and for the game, what would you recommend?

Just checking my local computer store (ppl in manchester will know the one), their cheapest HDMI cable seems to be £12.33 and its 5m! The 2m ones are more expensive and out of the stock, and the next one they have available is Vivanco HDMI 3M High Quality Gold Plated for £24.56 :eek:

Guess I'll have to buy a 5m one even though I only need 2m max!

Yep I've still got my 360 and I intend on keeping it, so would prefer to get a PS3 exclusive tbh. I remember seeing that video comparing GOW and RFOM and it didnt look too bad so I might just go for that.

I just got a HDMI cable and motorstorm, had a quick blast and it looks very good I must say. Plays very well aswel and seems quite addictive

Tbh with you mate, there has been quite a lot of slating the ps3 on these forums and that was largely due to the price and the lack of games which is understandable but as a result of everything I use to read, I really did not expect anything from the ps3 at all.

I was tempted at £340 but for £285 I felt I couldn't refuse, for a brand new ps3, even if its just to use as a bluray player. Turns out now though I'm hugely impressed by it which I really did not expect. Motorstorm looks brilliant and is quite addictive. The thing is so silent you can hardly hear its switched on, and the built quality still amazes me. I'm a big 360 fan, I've still got my 360 with about 10 games here but I have to say I'm very impressed with the ps3. I've just updated it to v1.80 and I'm tempted to even buy afew classic ps2 games now for it

It gets a massive thumbs up from me.
