Ps3 Xbox slow

Hi

I'm really tearing my hair out today, I wanted to show my girlfriend something on the iplayer but when I tried to watch it via my ps3 it buffered like mad and was unwatchable, so I turned on the xbox and tried to watch it though that but as I hadn't installed the app for the iplayer I had to download it and it took ages just to do that and once it was done I tried to watch though the xbox but again it buffered like mad. I tried the iplayer on my pc and it was fine, did a speed test and got 30mb/s (infinity), found the speed test on the ps3 and got 500kb/s! I tried plugging the Cat6 cable from my PC into the ps3 and still got the same and also got the same with wireless. I've tested my phone and the laptop and they both connect though wireless fine.
Has anyone got any idea what the heck is going on the only thing I can think of is traffic shaping on BT's end but I doubt thats happening.

Download some non-iPlayer content on one of the consoles and see if the speed goes above 500Kb/s.

It's still the same. However I set the Ip etc manually and using Google's DNS and now for some reason It's working fine, going to try the same trick on the xbox later. Any idea why this would make a difference?
