Get Skate on the Xbox360, the PS3 version has a shoddy framerate, I've read it's one of the worst of the bad ports between Xbox360 and PS3, so go for the Xbox360 version.

I'd definitely recommend Uncharted, though it is quite short (but enjoyable).
I enjoyed Motorstorm and now that it can be picked up cheap I'd go for that. If you're happy with the Ps3 pad go with Assassins Creed (personally I went for the Xbox360 version due to the controller).

I do genuinely find it hard to recommend anything else though (as you already have CoD4) on the PS3. Some people will recommend Ratchet and Clank which is probably the most promising of the 2 big games on the PS3, but I found it a huge disappointment, but I can also see why some people would like it.

Resistance is good. I downloaded the demo but really struggled with it (think it was a later level), got the game FOC at work when we got 6 PS3's delivered and I enjoy it. Get the sound cranked up and its creepy and made me jump.

I also have Ratchet and Clank and love it too bits but then I did enjoy it on the PS2 as well. Motorstorm is ok but I got very bored of it quickly especially as I am not a bike fan (I am more a racer than FPS with Forza, PGR4, CMDirt etc on the 360)

To be fair if there is a game available for both the 360 and PS3 I will usually go with the 360 for the GamerPoints. Roll on GT5

Thanks peeps, ratchet and clank looks great fun just checked a vid on gametrailers. Other than these lot it looks as though the ps3 is having quite a reserved time with its big titles :(

Looks like the new lcd im gona buy will be getting some halo3 action and cod4 lol

Forgot to ask you say about the pad, as I have not yet played the ps3 and it looks the same what have they done it im worried now lol

The PS3 pad has the following that annoys me (and others):
  • It's FAR too light
  • No-Rumble (though for £40 extra you can get one imported that does)
  • Terrible deadzone on the joysticks (again fixed on a new, £40 imported DS3)
  • Convex triggers
  • Lack of feeling in the triggers
  • Flat face buttons
  • Cheap and Flimsy

It's not as well built as the ones from the PS2, nor has it gotten anymore comfortable, something that is much more noticable after the quality of the Xbox360 pad. Six-Axis is actually rubbish, a lack of rumble and convex triggers so your fingers slip off (as well as a lack of feeling to them) are all massive disappointments with the pad. There are a lot of people unhappy with it and on top a lot of people who defend it haven't used an Xbox360 pad (as seen in another thread).

Search on the forums and you'll see a lot of complaints from a lot of different people about the controller.

If your a footballing fan get fifa for the ps3 i enjoy it, brilliant fun to play with friends while having a drink!

You don't need a 1080p if you're not going to be playing Blu-ray. The PS3 will auto switch to 720p for something like 90% of its gaming.

Six-Axis is actually rubbish.

Actually, I find it to be very good in the small number of games built specifically with sixaxis integration. It doesn't suit all games but a sweeping statement like that is hardly fair, or accurate, when you consider the fun that can be had with games such as:

  • Folklore
  • Heavenly Sword
  • Locoroco Cocoreccho!
  • Flow

I will admit in some, perhaps the majority of, games sixaxis can feel fairly random but I feel that's down to game design not the controller (some Wii games have felt as if the Wii-mote control system was just tacked on too).

Resistance, F1, Motorstorm, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Heavenly Sword and Drakes Fortune are all highly recommended in my opinion, found them all brilliant games!

Try it out first before you listen to other peoples opinions on things as i disagree with pretty much every single post posted above by Nokkon lol.:)

Ratchet & Clank, Warhawk and Uncharted are the best games in my opinion.

Motorstorm lacks too much content, Resistance is just the most boring FPS I've played in a while and Heavenly Sword is too short. :o

Give folklore alook. theres GH3. Id download Tekken DR online, Id also be looking to downloads GT5:P but it will be in jap :P

I have Skate, and while the framerate can suffer it's not totally unplayable.

It might be worth renting if you're set on getting it.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction
Resistance: Fall of Man
Assassin's Creed
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

.. I'd recommend those :)

Resistance the most boring FPS you've ever played? hmmmmmm

Don't listen to him, I amoungst many many others find it to be one of the best FPS's out there. Actually it's the ONLY console FPS I've only ever really managed to spend more than an hr on... And that includes ALL of the Halo's.

Mind you, I've just bagged Modern Warfare on the PS3 and that so far seems to have me hooked. But it's only been one day so far..

Personally I thought resistance was horrible, had a fairly solid multiplayer but was badly lacking graphics wise, which doesn't normally bother me too much, but it just looked so old after playing the other fps's out there.

Cod4 blows it away imho.
