PS3 YLOD - Average Lasting Time Once Repaired?

Well mine died a week ago when playing top spin4, My friend fixed it only used it once since its been okay but i just wonder if their is any sort of average lasting period before it does go again as im sure it will.

Is a 40GB Phatty.

My brother did is last summer and its still going strong however a work mates only lasted a few days.

If mine ever went i would just sell it on the bay and buy a new one with warranty.

the first time mine lasted for a few days before the YLOD came back. Used the heat gun on it again and it lasted another 2 years though (just totally died 2 weeks ago

Mine just died aswell, are there any recommended guides to doing this? I've got the thing stripped to component parts, just the heat-gun part I'm slightly hesitant about, just want to make sure I do it right for the best possible chance of getting a bit of time out of it.

For example, is it worth using Flux?

no dont use flux , look on youtube there are loads of videos explaining how to correctly do this
