Hi all,

I thinking of getting PS3. I was wondering how do you go online with it?. Do you just need telephone line, that plugs in?.

Thanks,
Evilwood.

You need an internet connection with a router.

You can plug an ethernet cable in to the PS3 or if your router is wireless then you can connect directly to the PS3 that way.

Ok i am getting broadband from BT (do you recommand a better one?), so i just plug it into the modem that comes with it?.

I think the standard BT Broadband modems do have a ethernet port, if not just buy a router, could cost you from £20~50 mind.

If you have a spare ethernet port on your pc. For example if you have a usb broadband modem you can use the pc ethernet port and use the pc as a router. save's you money ;)

I really like Telewest.

Yeah I think Virgin Media a.k.a Telewest & NTL are the best ISP I've been with, I have the 10 meg which they're upgrading to 20 soon (for same price) not had 1 issue since I've been with them.

Shame there V+ HDTV boxes aren't so reliable :( I'm on my 3rd since Xmas

Avoid anything that uses the bt network, aol, tiscali, orange, skys cheaper options etc because bt use traffic shaping which cripples your speeds, before I left them it was ridiculous, 30KB/s in the day and 300KB/s at night. So you should look for an llu or cable network. Preferably cable as they have much more bandwidth to give to people, so ntl or telewest.

Been with Telewest (now Virgin media) from the start. Impeccable service.

If you're lucky enough to have cable in your area, then you'd be silly to pass on the superior service it provides.

Sorry, but that really made me laugh. I had AOL for 10 years, and never had as many problems as with Telewest. I actually had to call three times this week because they did some maintenance that messed up my line completely, and was twice told that it must be an issue with software I've been using for 2 years .

Mine has too, although recently warcraft was getting some problems. However the speed and stability of the connection has always been spot on

Another vote for ntl/telewest. ive probably had to call them 3 times in all the years they have provided cable.
