***** DO NOT START ANOTHER CONSOLE VS PC DEBATE AGAIN! THIS IS PURELY PS4 SPECULATION!! *****

It all started with this article http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-05-26-sony-is-working-on-playstation-4
Which was maybe put out to combat the rumours of the next consoles from MS and Nintendo.

Here are some utterly ridiculous concept pictures to start with:

There's no chance it'll look like that.

I want it to have a decent controller and cross game chat. Then i'll be happy.

Don't hotlink.

Pc is way better
Can a moderator give him a warning please?

As for the concept - I can't see it being workable:
*no shoulder buttons on controller or place for the battery
*the actual console doesn't really have anywhere for the components to go.

It looks nice but that's it.

I would think it'll use a modified version of the Cell. I can't see Sony spending as much as they did on it just to dump it now.

Seen a few people say that. I really really hope they won't make any drastic changes to the controller.

Just make it the same as the 360 controller but with the PS3 d-pad :p
After having a PS1 & PS2 and using the control pads for them I can honestly say the 360 is much better. Shame the d-pad is crap really!

Will we see pay to play games online for PSN with the next system? They banged on about it being free for the PS3 but then brought in PSN+ as it was costing them too much money.

c) If its using an expanded version of the Cell which many assume it will then it'll be similar to coding for the PS3. Its not difficult, just different. Different enough to make it an issue for many developers 4-6 years ago. Now though there are so many people with Cell experience that it really shouldn't be an issue if the PS4 is using Cell at its heart.

The only problem with Cell is that some devs still don't optimise properly for Cell so we still get shoddy ports. Black Ops is one example of this and I believe Crysis 2 was inferior to the 360 version. Anybody that's played games like Uncharted 2 or Killzone 2/3 will know there is no excuse for this really.

Yeah and Sony give everything for free :p

They don't give stuff away but they do allow you to use universal add-ons like blue tooth headsets and 2.5" laptop hard drives. Whereas everything you buy for the 360 has to be made especially for it.

I think its because some devs are still using the 360 as the lead platform and then porting. If they go the other way it seems to be a little easier to get a close match across the hardware.

It's quite funny really as a number of devs have said it's much easier porting from the PS3 to the 360 yet other devs choose to completely ignore that. They then do it the hard way round and moan about the PS3 being hard to programme for
