PS4 and Ps4 Pro HDD swap

Hi

I have a PS4 (original) which I fitted with a 2TB HDD.

I fancy picking up a Ps4 Pro and my lad can have the old PS4 in his bedroom. However if I remove the 2tb drive from my old PS4 and put it into my new Pro will it just work, or will it had to reformat the drive first?

The PS4 Pro will want to format the HDD.

Could copy the data on the 2tb to the pro's 1tb (via pc maybe). Then pop the 2tb in the pro and format, 1tb goes in the OG ps4...then do the transfer data option like you normally would from OG ps4 to new ps4.

Works in my head but I must admit I didn't think it through thoroughly so fact check it lol.

You could move (copy not allowed) the games from the 2TB to an external HDD and then move them back again when you put it in the Pro. But then you’d have to redownload games for the OG PS4.
