PS4 and Xbox Rumours

So because it has features you don't want, that for all you know so far might effectively be packaged in for free, you don't want one.

Go figure.

I never said that, I just wish that they would focus on games, and all these other features remain in the background.

I would prefer if you actually have to install these features from the store than come bundled with the OS.

People buy a games console to play games and that should have been the focus of the presentation. All other features should be in the background.

I get it. They're trying to make the Xbox your entertainment 'hub' by enabling you to do all of the things that you do on the devices you listed, through their console.

IIRC, most of Netflix traffic comes from users on the PS3 and I think it's fair to say that with BluRay and easy media servers, PS3 was considered the better all-round media console early into this gen before MS started to add things like Sky and social media. They probably want to be seen as an equal as far as entertainment is concerned.

For me though, and I imagine for most of the people on these forums, we prefer dedicated devices for these jobs. I want a standalone bluray player. I want a DVR. I want a tablet. I don't want to clog up my console HDD with media from all of these forms of entertainment.
Fair enough but as I keep saying ( :) ) current gen 360 and PS3 does all this stuff already and no one things they are rubbish consoles. This is just the next gen version of the media stuff along with the gaming stuff.

And why are people giving crit on the name?

If a name affects your buying decision then you have issues, serious issues !

On one hand you say you only care about games and don't want any other features, on the other hand you and moaning about the name ?! Oxymoron ? you either care just about games or you don't.

Besides, its only a name, did you moan when Apple call the new iPad the New iPad and not iPad 3? Did you moan when BMW announced they released the M135i when there is already a 135iM ?

If you are going to be confused with Xbox One with Xbox 360 (a 7 years old console) then I would worry more about your comprehension capabilities than Microsoft's decision to name their products.

Well, looks like its the PS4 for me, charging a fee for using used games? what a joke.. especially if you still have to pay for Xbox Live, no wonder Sony's shares have risen since the One reveal.

Was all a bit meh.

I do laugh at all the EA BS about the sports games, at the end of the day they'll be fundamentally the same games they've been churning out for the past 3 decades, just with prettier graphics. (I know it's a massive generalisation)

COD: Ghosts looks like a rushed game to me. Wow, you have a dog, you can lean and slide. All features that need next gen hardware to pull off. Graphically I genuinely thought the CoD was running a last gen engine in some of the shots, so much terrible model clipping and low res explosions.

Still going to buy the Xbox and PS4 at launch and use neither of their features apart from the gaming bits, and maybe the blu ray.

So 98% of what they just showed is pretty much irrelevant lol.

Love to see Pioneer argue this now, the ONE box that can do everything, providing you live in America

Please show me where I've said the Xbox is better as it is able to do these things. I've stated that it has more functionality than the PS4 whilst still playing the same games, whereas others have convinced themselves that "it's rubbish as it does media stuff and somehow doesn't play games!"

Youre ******* me... Is this for reals?

Xbox One games will require mandatory installation to the console's hard drive, Microsoft has confirmed, and will be locked to the account of a single user. Should a friend wish to play the same game, he or she'll need to pay an unspecified fee in order to install a separate version.

"On the new Xbox, all game discs are installed to the HDD to play," a Microsoft representative told Wired today. This has been styled a "pre-owned block", but OXM's Jon Hicks (who's currently in Redmond, checking out the new console) argues otherwise - when you sell the game on Microsoft will deactivate your install via unspecified methods, meaning the next purchaser won't have to pay the second-user fee. You won't, however, be able to share a single copy of a game with your friends.

Agree. What happened to the days when consoles simply played games.

I don't mind the features being there, I will just not use them. For starters I don't think the HDD space will be any where near big enough to be an all in one media center/pvr/music/video hub etc for 99% of the people on this forum?

The reveal wasn't for me as I purely game. I understand others might want an all in one hand gesturing jack of all trades, master of none, I've just never met any of these people personally.

I'm sure MS have done their research well though.

Lol, hadn't realised it wasn't part of the system. The way MS showed it, it seemed it was all integrated. More money required, just wondering how much this is all going to cost.
It's referring to it connecting to an existing (in our case) Sky, Virgin Tivo, BT Vision or Freeview box I would imagine, not an Xbox add on.

That doesn't bother me at all in that regard. What would bother me is I have always had 2 xboxes or more. One on the family TV and one in my gaming/study. Not being able to install to another while using the same gamertag would be highly irritating and a deal breaker for me.

They are.

They had other features to talk about, Sony didn't.

They can sum up the game aspect in one sentence. It plays next gen games.

There's nothing else for them to say!

no mention of gaming power? ram or cpu? architecture? these are all central to which console will have the better next gen games.

like gta 4 both the ps3 and the xbox had this game but the graphics were noticeably different on them

If you log in with your account you will be fine to play.

It seems to suggest it's tied to your gamer tag account so you can play anywhere as long as you log in as you.
