PS4 Blu Ray Player Or Stand Alone Player

Can't you transfer the movies you payed for from your PS3 hard-drive to the PS4 hard-drive ?
Or is it possible to download them again from PSN onto your PS4 ?

No and No . Sony only allow streaming of movies on the ps4 . That includes any movie you "BUY" on psn . Now if you have a ps3 and buy the same movie you can download it to the ps3 and play it anytime you want. they claim its a software issue .......cough ....bs .

This is probably my biggest issue with using the PS4 as a media player, besides the fact that it seemingly doesn't want to discover half the folders I've set up for network sharing. The 4GB video size limitation is a bit of a joke for 2016.

Sometimes I've always wondered if it is on purpose...

They were quite clear from the outset though that they weren't interested in having it serve as an all-in-one media centre; they only added the Media Player app because people demanded it. So many devices have the same sort of functionality these days that I can kind of see their point, and that's from someone who used to use their PS3 daily as a media player.

That really is bad..

So if anyone that has bought loads of movies using a PS3 there going to lose all of them if they ever upgrade from there PS3 to a PS4 (or PS5 etc )

Certainly wasn't the reason for me. PS3/PS4 was only treated as a games console in my view while I did watch a lot of DVD/Blu-Ray's drifting to sleep with the PS3 and mainly used the dedicated Blu-Ray player and WDTV for serious viewing. Since those do not create any sound in my cabinet.

Still, it is nice laying in bed with the Bluetooth remote for the PS3. I still love the PS3 Super Slim how quiet that thing is. Apart from disc menu/chapter drone.

No excuse to no add more functionality, it's lazy and goes to show they don't really give a **** about the end user.

Not everyone wants to have multiple devices when really, a single 1 should do it all.

Or they care more about its primary purpose as a games console than people using it play torrented files or whatever.
