PS4 CASING - MODDED(OR BUTCHERED, DEPENDING ON TROLL ABILITYS)

Community's come and go, its fair to say that this forum has dipped compared to days gone by. I never went ( I know you did Kreeeee) but the meets in wales etc created a good bunch of people.

Wonder what the appetite would be for a console meet somewhere. It would probably end in a punch up

That was the best bit, meeting all the "characters" from the forum and having some great banter. People can take a joke in person and you realise that a lot of what's said is actually in jest, although I loved how many comments I got along the lines of "I can't believe you're exactly the same in real life".

The problem now is that there aren't many games that pull everyone together like Halo 2/3, rockband and CoD:MW1/2 did but I would definitely be up for it!

I'm still in touch (as in I meet up with) with people from these forums and played paintball with Kronologic (Manlove is my forte), Alrik and Cadman a few weeks ago.

All aside, there was nothing funny about all the personal attacks on the 1st page of this thread.

Well this thread went well...

My comments were in jest but I kinda feel bad for the guy now, considering he got suspended too. It doesent change the fact that the mod - imo - was probably a bad idea but we've all had silly ideas in our heads one time and the only way to satisfy them is to ignore everyone else and just do it, even if hindsight turns out to be a big fat 'told you so'.

Christ, I remember when I had my PS2 and I had the unrelenting desire to take it all apart and spray paint it blue to match my bedroom, no joke! The best part is about a year later I realised it was a silly idea and wanted to remove the paint so to fuel yet another silly idea I used paint stripper to remove the paint...the problem was the solvent in the paint stripper melted the plastic too. Hooraa!

>Searches ebay for a new casing...

This was the last time I modded a console :o

Ho hum, how long does a suspension last for anyways?

i think the point is that it's not wise to mod a console (which could have a manufacturing defect and fail regardless of cooling, they make millions of these 7 million sold so far, so yes a few will fail) and ruin it's warranty.

if the console was overheating he could have easily sent it back for a replacement.

by modding it he's now not covered say if his blu ray drive dies, or the hard drive failed, etc, etc.

he attempted to fix a problem which didn't exist and now has ruined any chance of getting a new one should it fail.

looking at the pros and cons of the situation, i can only see cons, no pros what so ever.

the difference with removing a gpu heatsink and using a waterblock is that you can easily put the heatsink back on and send it back, he has removed the stickers and then cut a hole in the case, basically impossible to stick back on unless he can find a spare case somewhere but i doubt theres any due to all consoles being covered by warranty atm (less than 1 year from launch) unless someone did something similar to what the OP has done and voided their warranty and killed their console.

by modding it he's now not covered say if his blu ray drive dies, or the hard drive failed, etc, etc.

warranty was already void before doing this as i removed the stickers to look inside the ps4.

he said in his original post that he had already removed the stickers in the first place before doing the mod, so his warranty was already voided though, so its fair game he can do whatever he wants after that

I think the ps4 looks like a couple of old laptops slapped together, problem is the ps4 has the power supply built in which was always going to make the console generate heat, the heat issues are mainly at the rear of the twin laptop 4, hardly suprising someone would try to make the thing cooler, not something i would do though.

I remember modding the first ever x-box, that was for no other reason than it being hideous! Lots of cutting, polished clear crystal in the center, some silver paint, part of another case screwed on and some blue LED's. Back in the day a MOD wasn't a MOD unless it had blue LED's included. Seems rather silly now when i think about it.

Personally i don't see a whole lot of point in modding these days but if it made the OP happy then i suppose it has served it's purpose even if that is it's only one.
