PS4 Controller Issues - Major Input Lag

I can't find much on Google so thought I'd ask on here.

There's something wrong with the PS4. Sometimes the controller just goes into spasm, it doesn't matter which of the three we use, the game is just completely unresponsive and the input lag is terrible. It's as if the controller is drunk and isn't able to speak to the PS4 properly and something is interfering. As it's Bluetooth based I tried turning BT off on my mobile but it still does it.

It's fine most of the time it just does it occasionally.

Any ideas?

It does sound like something causing interference and breaking the connection if it's only occasional and happening to all controllers. There's a list of what may cause it here.

You could just get the console replaced under warranty.

I've had this happen to me but only on BF4.
It's kinda like what I'm inputting is getting delayed so nothing happens for a few seconds and then ALL of stick movements/button presses all happen at once so my character goes totally mental.

What do you mean by TV lag?

I've never had any problem with anything before. Biron I saw on Google people seem to be having the issues with BF4. I only play COD Ghosts though.

I think if this continues I'll have to look in getting it replaced although that's a hassle, I have a wireless extender right next to the PS4 (which uses LAN) so next time this happens I'll turn it off and see if maybe that is causing the issues.

I have had the same problem a couple of times as well mate.

Op out of interest does this happen to you on BF4 or other games?

LG50PK350 Plasma.

I very much doubt it's the TV because if on multiplayer someone else runs past for example it's still really smooth it's just the controller is completely unresponsive. It also happens on menus so you'll be trying to scroll through the main playstation menu and it'll just ignore what I'm pressing on the d-pad.

Now you've mentioned the menus, I also get this too, but not in any games that I have noticed. If it were interference then surely it wouldn't just interfere in the menus and not in games? Have you tried plugging the usb cable in to see if it makes a difference?

I occasionally get lag in the menus after tabbing out of a game, does closing the application make it go away?

Unfortunately not. I had a mate over on Saturday night for beers and pizza and we just couldn't get it to work. Tried closing the application, rebooting the PS4, unplugging literally all the electrical equipment in the room etc. Took a timeout for an hour went back to it and it was absolutely fine.

Then I had a stint last night by myself and it started doing it again. Really annoying as well I was on a 9 kill streak for 0 on COD and then died because it went into spasm as someone walked in front of me :D

it could very well be the TV, the lowest input lagg it can achieve is 50ms which is fine but it only achieves that if you turn all the image enhancements off and have it in a "gaming" mode if there is one available (there may not be).

turn off all image enhancers, if you don't know what they are then take some pictures of your tv's menus and upload them on here and i'll tell you what you need to turn off and try again.

If it was the TV would it not be doing it consistently? It only seems to happen every so often certainly not every time I play. I admit the TV doesn't have the best response time for gaming, I'm not sure I've got any image enhancers on I've just turned up the vibrance as I prefer it that way.

I was about to ask why you still had the PS4 until I saw the reason for the "Why won't it plays PS3 games" rant

It is an odd issue and one I only ever experienced once before when round a friends house, it turned out to be his AV receiver interfering.

Yes exactly, you would expect the TV to be a consistent delay if that was the fault.

Is there anything in between yourself and the PS4 when playing, can you move the wireless extender further away. You could try connecting a pair of headphones to the DS4, set it to output all audio to the headset and then see if you get static interference at the same time that you get the controller lag. If you do then it would suggest something is causing interference in the connection although exactly what is a bit hard to say.

the lagg could be kicking in when the image enhancements kick in, then when the enhancements turn off lagg also goes away.

image enhancements are constantly switching on and off in the background. they are usually all on by default.

i would look at this first as it's an easy fix spending 2 minutes changing settings in the menus.

Looks like you were right mate.

I waited for it to happen again and then switched the TV to 'Game' mode and voilla, it stopped. It seems a lot sharper and a higher FPS too, not sure if that's in my head though.

Sorry I doubted you, I just didn't understand why it would be the TV causing it intermittently.
