Ps4 controller issues

Hi,

Starting today my ps4 controller has been randomly pressing the L1 button by itself, its not stuck just random constant presses.
Ive taken it apart cleaned the button and the contact (can't see anything wrong, no marks or anything) and its still doing the same thing. I even completely removed the button and its still acting like it been pressed.

I'm at a loss of what else I could try, any other suggestions I could try before spending £50 on a new controller?

Appreciate any help.
 
How long have you had and used it?
I had Playstation 1 to 3 and only the controller for 3 eventually went wrong sending a stream of messages that wouldn't stop, but by that point I'd used it for hundreds if not over a thousand hours so it did have the right by then to give up.
My DS4 (which I use for PC) is still going strong. Official controllers in my experience are built very well, so if yours is recent I think you've been unlucky, although perhaps there is some trick to rectify your issue. The two third party ones I tried both failed within 2 weeks.
