My PS4 is playing up, continually ejecting disc even though no disc is in the system. It has been powered off and followed Sony fix, 2 beeps leave 3 minutes etc..

My question is, if I send this back to Sony can I do so with the 2TB HDD installed? I do not have the original..

Aaaargh !!!

i think some one posted on the PS4 thread about having a similar problem, cant find it but i think it was something to do with the PS4 if it is lying flat on a glass shelf a build up of static can cause the eject button to seem like it is randomly been touched.

Erm no you need the 500 gb drive.. erm yeah that's going to be an issue.

Ah.. Yeah that's a problem then lol.

Weirdly it seems to be working ok for now. Just did the 2 beep, power off for 3 minutes and this time it seems to have worked. Finger crossed

Yeah I Googled it, seems to be the most common fault, my PS4 is stood vertically, with room around it. Weird that it started happening. I managed to fix it for time being it seems. Fom what I read from peeps over the net, they fixed theirs but only temporarily. Then the problem came back and they had to send it to Sony. Because I don't have the original 500GB HDD, I'm wandering if this is going to be an issue should I need to return it.. I'm hoping it's fixed now ..

I've been having the same issue for a few weeks, this or the eject button just stops working. Mine is up right on my wood floor so maybe static. Super annoying either way, there are times where only a full system shutdown will let me eject a disc.

might sound daft, but try giving the eject button section a clean. could a build up of dirt/finger prints on it cause it to think its been pressed.

This might be a long shot but try doing a Database rebuild in safe mode. I'm sure i read this can fix issues with ejecting.

Worth a try before you send it back.

Had this with mine (less than 4 months old). did the screw adjust/database rebuild and manual installation of the system software fixes.

Ended up taking mine back to Game and having 'em swap the console itself for a new one, which is behaving itself now. :)

Ok do the usual 2 beeps. Then pull the power from the console. Keep holding the eject button till theres no more beeps.

Plug power back in and it should be ok.

Mines gone insane today, keeps restart and going safe mode, and anything i do causes it to restart again, including re installing software, re building database.

If you do return it, you need the original drive as you won't get the same console returned to you.

Returned mine beginning of this month (Blueray drive problem) and got my console back same serial number & uv marked with my postcode.

Unplug all cables (power, hdmi etc) and hold the power button down.
Console should beep. Keep doing it until it no longer beeps.
Problem should be solved.

Shouldn't need to send them back. I had same problem with mine on glass shelf and this fixed it straight away. Been fine for months now.

Yep, can confirm the above worked for me when mine was playing up. Since then I haven't had the issue come back.

Might be worth making sure it doesn't beep when you hold down power or the eject button also. Can't remember which button I pressed.

Ending up doing this, everything seems great now. My PS4 also used to make a scary crushing noise when I put the CD in.

Cheers for all the responses guys, weird that a few of us have this issue. Since the last time I did the power off after beep, then leave power cord out for 3 minutes it so far hasn't returned. fingers crossed this fixes it.

If the issue comes back I'll try your way ty. Curious how does it work with beeps etc if there is no power connected?

My mate had this the other day. After googling he found it was something to do with a screw and needed tightening. He tightened it up and not had it since.

Im on my second PS4 due to the drive stopped working on the first. Fair play to Amazon they sent out a new one and i returned the old one, all free of charge.

I was sceptical I have to say, but mine tried to power on at least 4 times with no power cable plugged in
Assume it's just static electricity build up...

Ah ok, so with your method you unplug all cables including power, then just hold down the power button until it stops beeping?

This will be what I try next if it comes back again. So far so good..
