You don't need to buy anything if your using a simple plug and play USB headset. Any will work as standard.

It's only if you want surround sound, wireless or decent sound quality that you run into issues.

I recently found out I could use my regular PC headset by using one of these cables.

Any USB headset will work but only for chat right? I want game sound to come through at the same time.
