second hand astro mixamp, second hand sennheiser hd595, dx clip on mic (this is exactly the setup that I use actually), or ad700's second hand if you can find them (very rare). pretty much the best gaming headset you can get for under £200 and they are usually £50-£70 second hand.

should be under £150 and pee all over any "headset" you can buy in that price range

read that for more info

I just added to that thread as the older Sony Wireless Stereo Headset now works with PS4 and you can pick them up for £70. Yes they may not be as good as the setup you mentioned but a lot less hassle and no cables. Even the new Sony Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0 and the Pulse Elite can be found for less than 100 Quid.

Depends on if you value Sound Quality or ease of use tbh.

I use a wireless mixamp (I still have wires though). But with future updates the wires should get less and less from what I am reading online.

I could also go on to say that my headphones can be used with my tablet, smartphone, PC, laptop, dac/amp, etc, etc.

Can you use your inferior sounding headset with anything else other than a PS3 or PS4?

Therefore not only do I get better sound quality, I get to use them for music/movies, etc too from any device in my possession.

It would be a shame to spend £70-£100 on an inferior setup which can only be used with 1 device.

All of the above is just my opinion. You may think it's worth it.

I have no sound quality issues at all with my set. As far as I am concerned its pretty good. I never said that that the sound quality would be on par or even better than your setup but a lot more convenient and dramatically cheaper!

Yes you are right, they are limited in their uses, Although I can use them for PC as well, and the newer version 2.0 have a headphone jack so as long as its plugged into a power source you can use them as wireless.. Sorta.

I only use these on PS3/PS4 anyway as I tend to watch movies/listen to movies on my home theatre setup.

At the end of the day, horses for courses really. I am not a serious audiophile but I do like a nice sound and as far as I am concerned these headsets give me that without paying double.

Again its each to their own preferences really and as long as you are happy with your setup and I am with mine its all good :) Well I am now that mine work with PS4 or they would have been VERY limited in use.. :D

Well for gaming in my living room I'm not too fussed about sound quality tbh, so long as it's adequate. The convenience of my Sony Wireless 2.0 headset is awesome, onscreen battery indicator easy mute button on the headset it's all set up and integrated so well with the PS4.

On my PC I have my Beyerdynamic headphones, seperate mic plus a Fiio DAC/Amp etc. but for gaming in the lounge nothing beats the convenience of a wireless headset.
