PS4 Internet Requirments?

Does the PS4 need an internet connection or can I get away with just sticking in the game disc and playing?

I do have broadband, but its not a home hub. Its one of these:

Will a PS4 be able to sync up to this type of modem via wireless connection? The console would be set up near the modem, so the signal should reach it.

You don't need an internet connection but you're not going to get the most out of it without one. You ideally want the ability to download game updates etc for one.

You can connect it via wi-fi or with an ethernet cable.

That looks like a fairly old router too, will your ISP not provide a newer one?

It should be fine, but there's no reason not to ask for something newer.

Be warned though that if you have slow broadband (as I currently do) owning a next-gen console will really test your patience. Games and updates are huge now.

ps4 speeds are slower than your normal pc connection for downloading
