PS4 newb MP question

Hi, my lads getting a PS4 with SWBF, Blops3 and Fifa 16 for xmas, do I need to purchase Playstation Plus(or whatever the right ones called) to play online or am I totally off the mark?

Needless to say, pretty clueless on the matter.

You do indeed but I'm sure you get 14 days free with the console if you would rather hold off for a January sale

I can get it for £40 now but I'll use the 14 day pass and see if it goes cheaper in the sales.

While I'm here, can I sign up a username outwith unboxing the PS4 so he doesn't have to wait on xmas morning and he we can just jump straight in?

I would imagine so but not totally sure to be honest. Go onto the Playstation store and check.
