PS4 Slim - how do I connect a headset?

I know nothing, zilch about consoles.

My nephew has a PS4 SLIM.

I am looking at gaming headsets. In Sony's wisdom does a gaming headphone/mike/headset plug in via USB or 3.5mm jack?

It plugs in to the Dualshock 4 controller.

Depends on the headset.

A large portion can be connected directly to the DS4 via the headphone jack. For general use this will be fine.

Others connect either via USB dongles (official wireless models) or via Optical out (My wife's does this) but the slim won't have this option.

Generally speaking if the headset is marketed as working with the PS4 it should work with the Slim. Just check to see in the blurb how it connects (optical being the only issue).

I understand the PS4 slim has no optical.

if you ever get psvr then you will want the jack type not usb, and for everything else the jack can plug into the bottom of the controller

i think jack is your friend with ps4
