PS4 -XBOX One = instant gaming?

PC gaming is easier for me, no discs to change, no one time codes for multiplayer, no damaged discs, no loading times (even with steam on a mechanical drive it's so much better than console), no going out to buy games or ordering them and waiting. Can have multiple PCs with my whole game library on. And cheap!

Console gaming is easier for me, no discs to change, no one time codes for multiplayer, no damaged discs, no loading times, no going out to buy games or ordering them and waiting. Can have multiple Consoles with my whole game library on. And not really that dear!

Could say same for Consoles to be fair.

I prefer to have disks though so i can play, finish and then trade it in. Console gaming costs peanuts. Like i mentioned in another thread, COD:Ghosts cost me £2. Bought it for £37, sold it for £35.

I am someone who has no interest in PC's though. They are just a nuisance in every way :p

Steam is DRM, that's what i mean i don't want to use steam, uplay, origin etc and faffing around with key codes and downloading. The xbox360 is one gaming device i can instantly play media without the need for third party restrictions such as steam. Thanks for your input, i was just curious if the new consoles had any pitfalls with regards to this.

Faffing around with key codes? You simply open the store of whichever service you are using, enter your card details if you haven't already got them saved on your account and then you start downloading. The last time I "faffed" around with key codes was when I got three free games with my graphics cards and to be honest the faff was actually not faff at all. I clicked one button in Steam, typed the key in and it started downloading the game. You're seeing problems where there aren't any in my opinion. Not really sure how you can see Steam or Origin as a restriction. If anything you are restricting yourself by not using them.

With the Xbox one and PS4 it's not instant anymore.
Took about half an hour installing BF4 so it was playable, and then I had to wait an extra while until MP was playable.

For PC gaming, sounds like you're doing it wrong.
With these "next gen" consoles, I much prefer my PC thus far, my PC starts faster than the Xbox one, and then it'll boot up and load the game faster than an Xbox one.

You are not going to find any instant plug and play gaming device now as you're always going to need to install a large file and update the games periodically no matter the platform.

The plus side of the new consoles over the previous ones is that it does these things a LOT faster. Updates and Installs on PS4 work at the same speed as those on Steam. It can do it all in the background while you do other things.

I've never had to wait on my PS4 doing an update as it adds them to downloads automatically when I turn the console on and it's downloaded and installed bin the background in seconds.

Downloads/installs/updates on PS3 were simply awful but the changes with the new console for me is the absolute best change made for console gaming over the last generation and I woudln't have considered one if it was anything like last gen
