PS4 & Xbox1 - Are Demos Free - Is Plus & Live Needed?

Just a wee quick question. Im considering buying a new console, im not really into gaming much so a 500gb Xbox One S or a PS4 Slim will be fine for my needs. I dont know what games i will enjoy and so i want to try lots of free Demo's. Are these available without a subscription to Plus or Live ? Once i try out a demo that i enjoy i can buy the game and know i will enjoy it, i also want to try the different genre's too.

Not for a single-player game, no. Demos aren't all that common these days though.

Ok matey thanks for letting me know. It wont matter which i go for then but im leaning towards a PS4 bundle deal.

just fyi, the usable space from a 500gb PS4 is 408GB and from a 500GB XB1 is 362GB. Demo's can weigh in pretty hefty these days..

Have a look a the exclusives the PS4 has a lot more and different variety i would say.

Many thanks guys, i bought the PS4 bundle last night and it s a great piece of equipment indeed. There is some free games and demo's but nothing to get excited about. I finally got to play COD ww2 that was after the long long download and update for the game. The last time i played a game like this was years ago on the pc, getting used to the gamepad is very difficult, the COD game starts in a difficult scenario and i was constantly getting killed right away, you dont get the chance to familiarise yourself with the controls in this game.

I think i need to try a couple of easier demo's or free games to get myself used to the gamepad.

If you have big download and your not using the PS4 put it in reset mode it will download faster, I have been playing the prey demo this weekend its good fun reminds me of half life can be hard at times tho.

Won't avoid a big download but warframe is free game and is also allot of fun, that eases you into it.

Uncharted and last of us must buy as is horizon zero dawn

Thanks for the tips, i have a network cable connected to my ps4 as the wireless downloads were slow, i have changed the setting to allow internet when in rest mode so downloads can continue when not in use.

Many thanks for the recommendation, War Frame is free so i will download it. I have downloaded the Uncharted demo to try. Last Of US and Horizon Zero Dawn have great reviews so well worth consideration.

Planetside 2 is another freebie that's worth a look, I haven't played for a while so not sure about server populations etc.

I tried the Uncharted demo, i found the camera angle very confusing to control,
