PS5 Controller drop out on PC

My son has been using a PS5 contoller to play FIFA24 on his gaming PC. He is getting very frustrated at the number of times the controller loses connection to the PC during the game. He has tried it wireless and wired via USB cable.

It is not a high end spec PC but nor was it bottom end when bought less than a year ago.

Any suggestions?

Have you proved the controller itself is not at fault? i.e. sustained trouble free connectivity to a PS5?

We don't have a PS5 only a PS4 but the controller is brand new. My son thinks he has sussed out that the problem is a faulty usb cable. A change of cable seems to have solved the problem. Apologies for wasting your time.

Hopefully it works out for you, although it doesn't necessarily explain why you was experiencing similar behaviour when connected wirelessly unless it was causing issues charging perhaps.

I think he was using the same lead to charge and although it looked like it was charging it was never getting a full charge.
